Very often however, the mail reappears after KMail was closed and opened again. The mail is sent correctly though - I checked the mail server log files and it appears in the Sent folder selected (which usually resides on an IMAP resource). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: Sent Mail via SMTP. Close Kmail. Wait. Reopen KMail. Look into outbox folder. Actual Results: Sent mail reappears. Expected Results: Sent mail should not appear in outbox any more. OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31.14-0.6-desktop Compiler: gcc
Hello I cannot reproduce this bug on opensuse 11.4. My kde environment is the following Qt: 4.7.1 KDE Development Platform: 4.6.41 (4.7 >= 20110106) KMail: 2.0.89 Please can you try to reproduce the bug with a newer version of kmail?
I just checked with my current KMail version. The error is a bit different now: The outgoing Mail is placed in the outbox. Sending gives back an error stating that the message was sent successfully, but could not be removed from the outbox. And indeed, in the outbox I have all the mails I sent in the last weeks and they cannot be removed. Not right now. KMail gave me so much headaches (not sending out EMails at all) that I went back to KMail 1.13.7 for now. I might try to run KDE 4.7 RC1 for a few days before I upgrade to openSuSE 11.4 which will be in the next two weeks. If something happens, I'll update the bug report.
Just tried kmail2 in openSuSE 11.4 with kde 4.6.5 from this repos: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/46:/kdepim46/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4/ Experienced the same trouble. After sending an email a successful sending is reported and after restarting kamil2 a day later or so, suddenly already sent mails reappear in the local folder "outbox" but it seems that most of these messages or even all actually have been sent the day before.
Can you reproduce with KDE 4.7.4?
Nope, I upgraded today and KMail2 does not show any folder, though it happily connects and sync my two IMAP resources. As soon as I have solved this new, more severe problem (or filed another bug), I will retest this issue.
I'm having this problem. Email get sent, but the message remains in the outbox. There also appears to be other problems as well that may be related, like messages in some folders refuse to stay marked read. Some refuse to stay marked important, or watch. However for the purposes of this my kmail client reports the following versions: KMail Version 4.7.4 Using KDE Development Platform 4.7.4 (4.7.4) Running on Fedora 16, 64bit fully patched as of this morning (2012/Jan/12). According to "akonadictl --version": Akonadi 1.6.2 running "yum list "*akonadi*" produces: PyKDE4-akonadi.x86_64 4.7.4-1.fc16 @updates akonadi.x86_64 1.6.2-2.fc16.1 @anaconda-0 kdepimlibs-akonadi.x86_64 4.7.4-2.fc16 @updates
Currently it works for me after I have deleted all akonadi configuration and recreated the IMAP accounts from scratch. KMail 4.7.4 "release 11" on openSuSE 12.1 x86-64.
I can't see in KDE 4.9, please reopen if you still run into this problem,
Works for me as well: KMail 4.9.2 on KDE 4.9.2, openSuSE 12.1 x86-64.
