- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Logged in.
After splash screen displayed Dr.Konqi reported that plasma desktop crashed.
ALT-F2 continues to work. 
Background is black.
No panels appear, cannot bring up menus.
Saved applications seem to start correctly..

On a new user account, the background goes black but panel appears. Everything seems to get fixed when new wallpaper is chosen.

The crash can be reproduced every time.
