Description Kai Uwe Broulik 2011-01-13 15:08:10 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.95)
OS: Linux

On my main machine KMix is quite unresponsive. When using the mouse wheel to adjust volume, often those changes are applied after like 5 minutes(!), sames goes for the keyboard shortcuts. The slider when clicking it doesn‘t even appear, the right-click context menu appears after a minute or so and killing it once and re-starting kmix will not bring its tray icon back until you restart.
I already deleted kmixrc but didn‘t help. It doesn‘t happen on my notebook. It happens since I upgraded to SC2.

Reproducible: Always

Same even goes for its mixer window. The only thing that works is resizing that window, I cannot touch the slider, change tabs or access the menu.

Seems it was due to my misconfigured/broken KDE installation, on all fesh installs it doesn‘t occurr anymore.

Correction: Still has some hangs or lags, most of the time, the first time I use the mousewheel over its tray icon, it takes some time but then works fine. And now I experienced longer lags.

For further insight into this, please post the following information:

- Which sound backend is used. Please copy the output from
KMix menu => Help => Hardware information

- The ouput of "amixer" (or "amixer -c 1" or any other number that corresponds to the affected soundcard).

- Report if other mixers work (e.g. alsamixer).

Is this bug still present? Please try again with KDE4.8 or trunk and report back.
