Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.5.95) OS: Linux Normally when I plug my camera into the USB port of my computer, the device notifier will pick it up, both KDE applications Digikam, and Kamera would recognize it without issue. After updating KDE from 4.5.2, to 4.6rc2 in anticipation of the next release, this is no longer the case. Kinfo center will show it under devices -> USB but, KDE as a whole is no longer able see it. I am pretty sure this has to do with the removal of the HAL dependency, but I am not really sure how to determine what I should be looking at to resolve. Reproducible: Always

Is it a PTP or a USB Mass Storage camera?
(In reply to comment #2) > Is it a PTP or a USB Mass Storage camera? I have two cameras my original, a Nikon 4100 can be set either mass storage or PTP. When I checked it was set to mass storage, switching it to PTP had no effect. My current camera, is a Nikon S8100 it is PTP only and like the 4100 is not detected.
(In reply to comment #1) > see Bug 262808 Possibly related I ran some of the requested commands. and interesting enough my Nikon 4100 when in mass storage mode is detected by both udisks and solid. Neither the 4100 in PTP mode or S8100 which is PTP only shows up on either. I will keep an eye on that thread.
The USB Mass Storage case is covered by bug 262808. We'll deal with the PTP case with that one. Assigning at the right place then.
Please close this bug, I do apologize as this was a problem of my own doing. Udisks required an update to glib if I had checked dmsg I would have known dbus-glib needed an update to. Updating dbus-glib has done the trick both my cameras in mass storage and PTP are recognized.
Thanks for reporting, and glad it is working for you now.
