Description Luis Silva 2011-01-03 20:51:23 UTC
Version: 0.3 (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS: Linux

Kopete still depends on hal to recognise webcams. On system that only depend on udev, webcams are, therefore impossible to use.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just start any hal-less system and run kopete. The webcam is not available.

Expected Results:
The webcam should be automatically recognised and configured for use with kopete.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37-11-generic
Compiler: cc

Kopete relies on Solid to detect available video devices.

Probably solid's udev backend was not finished when you tested this. In my KDE SC 4.6.0 without hal I can see myself in the webcam configuration menu. Unfortunately very few Kopete's plugins implement video chat, only yahoo plugin as far as I know, but I do not use that plugin.

You are probably right. I just tested again and it works out of the box on kde SC 4.6.0. Sorry for the spam.
