Version:           4.6 pre (using KDE 4.5.90) 
OS:                Linux

choosing e.g. summary, calendar, contacts, journal from left hand menu but not feeds, usenet, pop-up notes  

I have kontact-debuginfo installed but it wasn't enough to produce a valid backtrace

Reproducible: Always

I can't reproduce and without a backtrace, there's nothing that can be done.

If switching to any component makes kontact crash, there might be an installation problem rather than a kontact issue.

If you could give me a clue about other debug files to install, I'll report back with more information

An update - I've managed to genrate a backtrace
