Description symon 2010-12-30 10:37:09 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS: Linux

You cannot drag and drop files into non kde applications... a couple of examples are trying to drag and drop video/picture files into a Video editor such as Openshot and Pitivi, or Devede video encoder etc. Drag and Dropping files work for Kde specific applications such as KdenLive, Amarok etc. There is no problems dragging and dropping files in all these programs on the Gnome Desktop Environment

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
open a program such as Openshot Video Editor, Drag and drop a video or Picture file etc into the video editor

Actual Results:
refuses to add file into application

Expected Results:
file should easily be drag n dropped into application

shell script workaround

Mark file(s) in dolphin, type Ctrl + C
> . filesFor echo

You may use klipper actions with filesFor instead of 'drag & drop'.

Maybe it is a feature I should request then...
It is strange that a D.E such as Kde won't let you do that but works on other desktop environments.... any plans to fix/create this feature?
cheers

There is a fix in Qt that unfortunately didn't make it into Qt 4.7.1, so you will either have to compile from source or wait for Qt 4.7.2. See http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-8644 for the Qt bug.

Please report if Qt 4.7.2 fixes your problem.
