I am having similar problems with kmail and akonadi. I am running kmail in the gnome desktop, and when kmail starts up a akonadi self test report also pops up. When I dismiss the report kmail dies. If I restart kmail after that it comes up and runs properly till the next time I login. Then the whole cycle repeats itself.

My akondi test report is almost identical to the previous one, with the addition of an error in Test 5 complaining that the MySQL log contains errors.

> D-Bus session bus went down - quitting

Looks more like a dbus issue. something makes it quit (which is doubtfully KMail or Akonadi)

If you're able to reproduce this issue with recent kdepim version (>= 4.7.4) open a report for the Akonadi product
