Hi, 
After switch to Pulseaudio, unreadable codes appears in kmix, please see attached file. I think this may be caused by Pulseaudio, in Pulseaudio, the name is "内部音频 Analog Stereo"(in Chinese).

Can confirm this in KDE 4.4.4 with kmix-pulse.
However in KDE 4.6.00 there seems no more encoding problems.

As far as I understood from comment 2, it is fixed in KDE4.6. => closing bug report.
