After deleting Strigi Feeder from Akonadi console because it was using too much CPU, I was unable to add a new one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Akonadi console connected to the N900
- Select 'Strigi Feeder'
- Click on 'Remove' button
- 'Strigi Feeder' is not listed anymore in akonadi console
- Click on 'Add' button
- Select 'Strigi Feeder' from the list and click on 'Ok'
- 'Strigi Feeder' is readded to Akonadi console

Actual Results:  
However, it is not operational as its status remains: 'Offline, Idle' whatever you try (ex: Restart Agent, Toggle Online/offline... Even restarting Akonadi console has no effect.)

Expected Results:  
Adding a new Strigi Feeder should work fine.

Hej Sabine,

is this bug reproducible? Could it be that the strigidaemon was hanging and therefor caused the strigi feeder to hang as well?
Does a 'killall strigidaemon' help in this case?

Hi Tobias,

I retested this today and I can still reproduce this bug. I even had additional problems while retesting it:

After removing the Strigi Feeder from Akonadi Console I was not able to readd another:
After clicking on the 'Add' button and selecting 'Strigi Feeder' from the list the list disappeared before I could click on 'Ok'
However, this seems to be only a display pb since after quitting and relaunching Akonadi console, Strigi Feeder is displayed again.

However Strigi Feeder is still displayed as offline whatever I do just like in the bug description above.


I tried 'killall strigidaemon' like you suggested in case it was hanging and made Strigi Feeder hang as a result but it did not seem to be the pb.
Here is what I got in the terminal:

killall strigidaemon
Agent instance ( "setAgentInstanceOnline" )  "akonadi_strigi_feeder"  has no agent interface. 
Agent instance ( "setAgentInstanceOnline" )  "akonadi_strigi_feeder"  has no agent interface. 
Agent instance ( "setAgentInstanceOnline" )  "akonadi_strigi_feeder"  has no agent interface.

So I am reopening this bug.

Hej Sabine,

tried this on N900 today. There seems indeed to be an update problem in akonadiconsole when readding the strigi feeder, but restarting akonadiconsole fixed it. And the strigifeeder was reindexing data after the restart, so I can't reproduce the problem here.
I'll remove the komo tag, since the normal end-user shouldn't start akonadiconsole at all.

i removed strigi feeder with akonadiconsole but when i try to readd it, strigi feeder isn't available...but now i have nepomuk email feeder available: is it same?
