I am running akonadi 1.50 on kde 4.6.0. I can't create a working kabc resource from a vcard file; when I try to, I get the same garbled address book as in the picture attached by Marc. Opening one of these contacts crashes kontact.
Since the use case is access to a single vcard file, I'd recommend using the VCard resource instead. The KABC resource is intended to be a temporary solution to provide access to data storage facilities for which there was a KABC plugin but for which no native new resource exists yet. For single vcard that is not the case anymore
The KResource compatibility bridges don't exist anymore with KDE PIM 15.08.
