Description m.wege 2010-12-17 19:44:20 UTC
Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS: Linux

Using the quick filter in the folder list wont expand minimised folder structures when one folder matching is in there. As far as I remember that was the case in Kmail1 and it is also the case in the folder selector. Would be nice, if this could be fixed.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.37-7-generic-pae
Compiler: cc

The KMail 1 quick filter also has full path information which allows for searches based on parent folders.

For example, suppose there is a hierarchy with Personal and Work folders with similar names:

Personal/INBOX
Personal/Archive
Work/INBOX
Work/Archive

Doing a quick search for "Archive" shows both Personal/Archive and Work/Archive. However, doing a quick search for "k/Archive" shows only Work/Archive.

In addition to this, the KMail 1 quick filter will show the parent folder but not allow it to be selected if it does not match the filter. This allows for rapid keyboard selection of the desired folder.

I am the original author of the quick filter functionality in KMail 1 (Bug 113759) and recollect that there are a number of subtle features that make the search behavior effective.
