Description David Faure 2010-12-17 19:41:15 UTC

---- Reported by gassauer@kde.org 2007-05-16 14:10:47 ----

Version: (using KDE 3.5.6 "release 77.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18.8-0.1-default

cups (localhost:631) let me select the pagesizes defined in the attached ppd file.

The profile section of the KDE printer definition dialog displays the usual pagesizes (ISO A4, .. letter...), but not the ones defined in the ppdf file.

Any hint where I can add the necessary information for papersizes?

What exactly do you mean with "KDE printer definition dialog"?

What exactly do you mean with "profile section"?

Some time has past, so I tried to reproduce.... and add some snapshots.
It have restarted the server, so the situation i describe now might be a bit different.

printout of the testpage

the hight of the testpage is 21cm (instead of the defined 19cm).
I do not know where the testpage is coming from but IMHO it should be created
dynamically on the fly using the ppd parameters to fit on the paper.
the test page should give a positive feedback and not scrambled letters....
(could be a cups problem though)

Hope that helps

I looked at the PPD file and there are things I don't understand in the added page sizes. AFAIK, these should be defined using 72dpi; if I take the size 101x54 mm, this gives a size of 283x153, but you use 1191x638. Am I missing something?

Thanks Michael!

I stopped playing around to define a correct PPD files as it didn't seem useful to have a ppd definition, which I can not select in kword etc.
The main questions are:
* does KDE (printing) make use of page format definitions in the ppd files?
* does koffice make use of ppd definitions to format the page size.

1) yes
2) no (but I'm not completely sure, you should ask koffice developers)

moving this to koffice due to Michaels answer http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145499#c13 (2)

This wasn't a patch, but a printout.

No we don't look at info from ppd files

closing as invalid as it's not solved but rather just answered.
