Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.85) OS: Linux I have a bunch of icons in my panel. Normally these icons take up the full size of the panel. However, when the panel gets above a certain height, the icons shrink. That is, they are smaller with a larger panel than they are with a smaller panel. I understand that there is a maximum size for panel icons, but if the panel exceeds that size the icons should just stop growing, they shouldn't get smaller. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make a horizontal panel 2. Add some icon-based widgets (examples include the application launcher, lancelot launcher, konsole profiles, and kate sessions) 3. Increase the size of the panel in small steps Actual Results: The icons resize until a certain point (937 for me), then suddenly drop down to a smaller size if the panel gets any larger Expected Results: The icons resize until a certain point, then stay the same size no matter how much larger you make the panel
Created attachment 54870 [details] Before shrinking This is how the icons looks before they get past the height that triggers the shrinking (note the height of the panel towards the right)
Created attachment 54871 [details] After shrinking This is how the icons looks after they get past the height that triggers the shrinking (note the height of the panel towards the right, it is only a few units taller)
Created attachment 54872 [details] Before and after comparison A direct comparison between the two, showing that the icons are actually getting smaller. The left is the shorter panel, while the right is the taller panel. There is no scaling in either case, both are direct pixel-for-pixel screenshots.
Hi, Seems the behavior is better in 4.8 master. Can you reproduce with latest 4.7series or master?
I can reproduce it in 4.7.4 too (In reply to comment #4) > Hi, > Seems the behavior is better in 4.8 master. > Can you reproduce with latest 4.7series or master?
Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding! Nate Graham
