Description Jakub Schmidtke 2010-12-13 16:46:17 UTC
Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS: Linux

In the old kmail, when you deleted a message, the next one in the same folder would be selected. So it was possible to delete several messages one by one just by pressing delete several times. Now, after a message is deleted, the next message is not selected, so after deleting each message it is necessary to select
another one with the mouse. It makes operating on the message list more difficult.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.36-ARCH
Compiler: gcc

Hello

I cannot reproduce this bug on opensuse 11.4. My kde environment is the following

Qt: 4.7.1
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.41 (4.7 >= 20110106)
KMail: 2.0.89

Please could you try to reproduce the bug with a newer version of kmail and check if the bug is still valid?
Comment 2 Jakub Schmidtke 2011-04-14 20:11:19 UTC
Right now I am using:
Qt 4.7.1
KDE 4.6.2
KMail 2.0.89

And the bug is still there.
It does not always occur, sometimes it works as expected,
sometimes I see that annoying behaviour.
Unfortunately it feels like it's random...

Hello

I tried again and i was not able to reproduce the bug. It might be related with the kdelibs, but i am not sure about it. Are you coming from a migration or from an update? Could you try to reproduce the bug into a new user account?

Hej,

I can't reproduce it here either.

Ciao,
Tobias

I can confirm this bug, using KMail 2.1.0 on KDE 4.6.4 on Gentoo. There are actually two issues:

In a non-inbox folder the behavior is as described by the original reporter.

In an inbox folder the very last message of the message list is selected, not the message following the one just deleted. This behavior may lead to the user accidentally deleting the wrong message.

Update: The behavior reported is for IMAP folders, I didn't test it on local folders.

Also, I believe Bug #266056 is a duplicate of this bug.
