Open kpat, maximize window, click with left mouse button in a non-cards area and move mouse while holding the left mouse button clicked (happens also on game selection screen).
You see, the window will be resized to a smaller window.
That is not a good solution since it can happen very fast and often if you play fast or you are somehow absent-minded ...
