Version: 2.3.2 (using KDE 4.5.3) OS: Linux Open Amarok and plug the mtp device (sansa in MTP mode, or Creative Zen Vision) The device doesn't appear in amarok. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: The device appears and transfers can be made. The problem seems to happen on Fedora 14. Not sure if it's related to the distribution. Some additional info : mtp-detetc : http://pastebin.com/0XhMSNv2 /var/log/messages : http://pastebin.com/T3jGdKcn amarok --debug : http://pastebin.com/N4VRFn8d
On Gnome, the device can be mounted with gphoto2 (the files on the Creative appear) and is working with Gnomad2. (gnomad2, gphoto2, gvfs-gphoto2, libgphoto2 are installed)
Sansa clip works fine here in both MTP and MSC mode, using Amarok 2.4-git of today with KDE 4.5.4 in Kubuntu 10.10. This could indeed be a problem with the underlying Solid structure, I will ask a Fedora person to look into that. Confirmed by two users with Fedora, see also this thread in the forum: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=115&t=91409
Hard to say, I don't think any of our fedora kde-sig'ers have this (or similar) devices to test. I'll ask around. (That said, fwiw, I *do* have an ipod touch, that I've never had amarok recognize either, but that's very likely a separate issue)
As I reported in the KDE thread given above : $ solid-hardware query 'IS PortableMediaPlayer' udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_41e_413e_61053C97CD697773_if0' $ solid-hardware query "[ PortableMediaPlayer.supportedProtocols == 'mtp' AND PortableMediaPlayer.supportedDrivers == 'libmtp' ]" This gives nothing. I'm not sure, but shouldn't it return the PortableMediaPlayer ? $ solid-hardware details /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_41e_413e_61053C97CD697773 udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_41e_413e_61053C97CD697773' parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_1d6b_2_0000_00_02_1' (string) vendor = 'Creative Technology, Ltd' (string) product = 'Creative Zen Vision:M' (string) $ solid-hardware details /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_41e_413e_61053C97CD697773_ifo udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_41e_413e_61053C97CD697773_ifo' parent = '' (string) vendor = '' (string) product = '' (string)
Reassigning to ereslibre, he is the udev/PortableMediaPlayer author.

It seems the problem has been solved with amarok2.4.0 (i tried on F14). Now the Creative Zen appears in the collections and I can transfer songs, but whatever I do, the progress bar is stucked at 89% at the end of a tranfer (even if the transfer has been completed). Moreover, if i try to transfer more songs, amarok says that "other copies are running". So i have to unmount the creative and start a new transfer.
On amarok 2.4 (Fedora 14) mtp device samsung YP-T10 is recognizable and explorable (i can see files inside), but i can't still transfer any files.
(In reply to comment #8) > On amarok 2.4 (Fedora 14) mtp device samsung YP-T10 is recognizable and > explorable (i can see files inside), but i can't still transfer any files. Could you please open a new bug for this? The description doesn't fit and I think this is a different problem.
