Version: 1.6.0 (using KDE 4.5.80) OS: Linux I'm asking option to hide statusbar. Only use case of it is showing link adress, which is at least not critical issue (or can be replaced by pop-ups instead ?). And on other side statusbar taking a lot of space (what is especially critical on netbook), which can be used by rss text instead. Reproducible: Didn't try
following a debate on plasma-devel started by Fiestas about removing status bar in KDE apps (where Kmail was also mentioned), I suggest to fully remove it, and display infos in an in-window widget as Seigo said (and probably just for errors: missing internet connection, problems in feed fetching: show a tooltip at bottom right corner).
Please don't assume that everyone reads plasma-devel and post a link to the discussion. Note that I don't think plasma-devel is the right place to discuss this. Was this subject discussed on the usability mailing-list ?

Thanks. So the result of this thread is that there's no result and that the decision should be made by people with more usability knowledge than the people answering. The important point is that such important ui changes should first be discussed with application maintainers (specially when you don't use the apps you're talking about)
