Description Sérgio Basto 2010-11-23 00:23:21 UTC
Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.3)
OS: Linux

Since kde 4.x
when I should have a "authentication fail" for example , kmail says "no new messages".
When I was waiting for an email, I ask to my mates if email has
stop and after nobody had problems , I realize that I had change
password doesn't restart kmail and kmail should giving "authentication
fail", instead "no new messages" .
I test it with kde 4.5.3 on Fedora 14.

I wonder if we have some option , to enable or disable this feature (of silence connections errors).

This problem, can also make more difficult setup an account since no errors happen.

Thanks,

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
create an pop3 account
choose a non existing server .

Actual Results:
no errors, just write in status bar : "no new messages"

Expected Results:
pop-up an error , with connection fail or authentication fail or some useful information , instead silent "no new messages"

this begins to happen in middle of kde 4.4 , i don't know when on in final kde 4.3

Hi, I don't understand why nobody give a dam about this kind of bug , It is only in Fedora systems that this happens ?
this is particularly annoying when I have to change my password every 3 weeks ...

Hum smtp pop-up a message of authentication fail, so this happens at least with "pop3s"

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
