KMix should be able to set mic boost volumes.
Use Pulseuadio, don't try with direct alsa.

Reproducible: Didn't try

I'm not sure it is possible to change 'Mic Boost' with pulseaudio at all. Reassigning it to PulseAudio backend (since you use it; and it is likely to work with ALSA backend)

what about speakers' boost? that is possible through PulseAudio (since it's in pavucontrol), not through Kmix
Comment 3 Christian Esken 2012-10-08 23:14:08 UTC
I do not understand the request.

Can Pulseaudio control boost volumes? How? Please add a screenshot.
Can KMix not control it, though Pulseaudio can?
Please report back.

As you can see in the picture, in pavucontrol it is possible to boost the volume (the example is the output device, but the same applies to mic) - notice it is 118% now.
Gnome sound settings provide this possibility too, while Kmix doesn't seem to - the volume slider stays on 100% even if one further raises the volume through pavucontrol, and at that point changing the volume in Kmix moves the volume back to values <100
