Description Stefan Hinz 2010-11-17 12:43:00 UTC
Application: kcmshell4 ()
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 3"
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.34.7-0.5-desktop i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 11.3 (i586)"

-- Information about the crash:
Here's I make it crash (reliably, always) on KDE 4.5 in openSuse 11.3:
1. Right-click Time & Date module in the control bar, select Adjust Time & Date
2. Change any of the settings, e.g. select a different time server from the drop-down menu. Click OK.
3. A window with a warning pops up, saying it can't save my settings because of "a policy", and prompts me to enter a password (presumably the root password). Enter the root password, click OK.
4. This results in an error window coming up, saying that the requested action can't be performed, given a number of either 6 or 7, related to "an error in the DBus background program" ... "the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken". Click OK to close the error window.
5. Wait up to 10 seconds. The KDE crash handler window will come up, saying that "the KDE control module was terminated unexpectedly".
Sorry if some of the messages are not verbatim; I'm on a German variant of KDE here.

[Comment from a bug triager]
Those crashes were being tracked at bug 242648, and they should be fixed in the next KDE SC release.
Note that you are using KDE 4.4.4 (not 4.5 as you mentioned)
Thanks
