Description kavol 2010-10-22 20:35:59 UTC
Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.2)
OS: Linux

while opening an attachment, I've accidentaly clicked the checkbox "always use this action" (or something like that)

I wanted to undo this, to be asked to choose the action, whether to open or save, next time, but I haven't found a way to do this

at first, I've tried to search kmail settings without success

then I tried the systemsettings module for file associations, but I just couldn't find any corresponding association to remove

then, as the action is now opening the attachment in kwrite, I've tried to search files in ~/.kde for "kwrite" but I haven't found any relevant occurence

then I tried go through the 200 KBs of kmailrc, but I haven't found any suspicious option there either ...

Reproducible: Didn't try

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64
Compiler: gcc

You were close... It is, in fact, in two places:
* the systemsettings, in the file associations.
You need to remember the file extension or the mime-type, search for it, and, remove the extension and/or kwrite from the programs that handle that mime-type. (or lower its priority)

* The do not ask again .... Is in the file
kmailrc[2]
In the section

[Notification Messages]
askSave_image/jpeg=2 (where jpeg is the mime type of the attached file)
(remove that line, and probably restart kmail)

Please, close this bug if this solved your problem.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
