Description BRULE Herman 2010-10-16 09:38:22 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.2)
OS: Linux

Hello, for this software:
http://ultracopier.first-world.info/
I have do Windows explorer plugin to intercept copy and do it with Ultracopier.
I wish do the same with dolphin/konqueror. Then the file explorer part, but I not found doc to do it, I thinks it's not possible.
Then me request is double:
Do interface to do interception of KIO transfer for dolphin/konqueror (or more), if possible, possibility of load the kind of plugin dynamically.
Do few doc to learn how write this kind of plugin (to adapat KIO to CatchCopy projet)

Reproducible: Didn't try

"Intercept copy"? What is the use case?

Can don't use internal system fo copy of kde when ctrl c + ctrl v, but Ultracopier or other software of copy, it's tool what add lot of option like speed limitation, multiple interface (in the version 0.3 via plugin), copy list management, ... see the website for more information (it's too kde project part, I target include in most KDE linux distribution as packet, and as default into KDE for most distribution for far futur).

This doesn't make sense for us; it's used on Windows as a workaround for the fact that Windows is closed-source and enterprising hackers like you can't add on the file copying features that they want. Here in the FOSS world, we don't have that limitation, so instead we should improve KIO's built-in functionality to include the desired features.
