Version: 0.6.1 (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux When I click on the Tools menu, no menu is displayed. However, it seems to open, because I can see the submenus (for example, I can access the encodings menu even though I cannot see the tools menu itself). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: I have not yet found a pattern in this behaviour but I first experienced it on my university's internal login system, and it happens again here on bugs.kde.org Actual Results: Opens the Tools menu but does not display it visually. Expected Results: The Tools menu should be displayed when I open it.
What Tools menu? I was looking for that but I only see "Set Encoding".
The menu with the wrench icon, the one to the left of the address bar which you find the "Set Encoding" sub menu. The tool top says "Tools" if you hover over it. However, I've had similar problems with other programs after this, so I guess this glitch is not rekonqs fault. Also, my hardware is not very reliable, so it might be a hardware issue... I'll report it again, where appropriate, if it re-occurs when I get my new computer.
I can confirm this bug. I don't think it is actually a bug with rekonq. It is actually a bug in desktop effects. I am running Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE 4.5.5, and I get exactly the same bug that Josef gets. However, when I go to K > System Settings > Desktop Effects and uncheck the "Enable desktop effects" box the problem dissappears. I don't know where this bug should be moved, but it should be reopened and moved to the bug area for desktop effects. I reproduced the bug simply by opening rekonq inside a plain vanilla fresh install of Kubuntu 10.10 updated immediately to KDE 4.5.5. When you click on the "Tools" menu (the square with the wrench in it immediately to the right of the address bar), the drop down does not apear. An outline sometimes appears, and if you mouse over any selection that contains a submenu the submenu does appear. I have also noticed that after reapeatedly clicking on the box (usually minimum 3 slow clicks) the menu does finally appear. Please reopen this bug.
I recently bought a new computer, and I get similar problems to this, also with desktop effects, but mostly with non-Qt applications. When ceiling in firefox and chromium it often fails to redraw properly when scrolling. The page on the screen is not in sync with what the browser seems to have actually have rendered (for example, the links are not in sync with what I see). Disabling desktop effects makes things work. I have intel graphics, don't remember the name of the hardware, which I think has some hardware or driver issues, so this behaviour might be related to this
I sometimes experienced this, too. I fixed it stopping desktop effects. :(
I can confirm that this bug has been fixed. I am running Kubuntu 11.04, KDE 4.6.3, xf86-video-intel 2.14.0, and Qt 4.7.2 This bug is a duplicate of bug 255175.
