Created attachment 52420 [details] Screenshot of the half-black panel. Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux At some resolutions, half of the task manager panel is black. Since an image speaks a thousand words, see the attached screenshot. If I use krandrtray to change resolution, the problem often disappears. On another computer, running KDE 4.4, switching to another resolution and then back again fixes the panel. I suspect the background is drawn prematurely, and then when the resolution goes up the panel extends without redrawing the background. Or there is a race between extending the panel and redrawing the background when the resolution changes. On my computer, the problem exists at 1680x1050, on another it's 1900xsomething that's problematic. There are no rendering glitches, and the two computers use completely different graphics cards, so I don't think it's a graphics problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Login to KDE with a resolution of 1680x1050. Actual Results: Half the task manager panel is black. Expected Results: The entire task manage panel has some grayish background.
I've seen the same problem at some school PC's.
[Comment from a bug triager] There is an older report describing this issue: bug 224666. It was considered fixed but I think there are enough new cases to reopen it and look for a fix. Regards
I'll have to check back which version of KDE runs at the school computers. I think though that it's KDE 4.4 so i can't really confirm that this happens on 4.5.
I have a similar issue, only my panel is completely black! See this forum's topic for more info and a screenshot: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=93411&p=188628 I'm using 4.6.0 on openSuse 11.3
this problem is long gone. reopen if appears on 4.9 or more recent
