Description vvarkey 2010-10-11 17:49:32 UTC
Version: 1.0.3.1 (using KDE 1.2)
OS: Linux

when i drag and drop notes from 1 basket to another, the note just disappears. in the destination basket, the count at the bottom right shows that the note was added. for eg, say there were 5 notes originally. after the drag-drop, the bottom-right counts show: 6 notes, 5 matches, 1 selected. even though no notes are currently selected.
if i close basketnotes and come back in, it shows: 5 notes, 0 filters, 0 selected. and the note is gone.
looking at the data files, i do see the file for the note on the harddrive.

i've been able to replicate it a few times on a basket i have.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
create a new note an drag it to another basket.

i've spent considerable time on this and can now replicate the problem consistently.
choose a destination basket of free form type.
click on a blank cell somewhere. then click the escape key. this has the effect of making sure nothing is selected in the basket. now move a note to this basket. it will disappear.
notes will move over successfully if a cell in the destination basket is selected. in fact, the note will be moved to the selected location.
if nothing is selected, it seems it does'nt know where to put the note, and ends up messing things up.

i hope someone will atleast now address this issue. it is critical and makes basket-notes too risky to use right now.

I can confirm this for a modern version of KDE (4.5.2) and Beta 2 of BasKet 2.0, not just the nonsensical values entered in the original report.

One easy way to see it is to move a note back and forth. When you move it the second time, it disappears because no note of the destination is selected. If you click a note in that basket first, it moves without disappearing.

With 2.49-alpha, I cannot reproduce the faulty behaviour. Can this issue be closed then?
