Created attachment 52413 [details] floating windows displayed by sim-im Version: unspecified (using Devel) OS: Linux It would be nice to have floating windows like icq, sim and others do. A floting window is a small overlay window without window decoration and stays every time on top. The position can be simply changed by drag to another place. It contains the protocol icon(s) and the dispayed contact name. Examples: http://files.msgpluslive.net/images/features/floatingcontacts.png Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: drag contact to desktop or click contact - 'add floating window' Actual Results: nothing happens Expected Results: floating window for this user is created
I confirm this. I strongly miss this feature. A user-interface suggestion to create floats: - Right click on a contact -> "Create Float(ing window)" - Drag a contact outside the kopete main window (this may prove problematic for drop targets though... shift drag? RMB drag?). It would also be beneficial if the floating window is as small as possible. Only showing the status icon and username. Unless the user wants more details in that window? As an additional (low-priority) wish, as the other implementations did not offer this: Easy grouping of floats. Let me explain what I mean by this: In the implementations I know (miranda-im plugins), it was easy to create a float of a single contact by simply dragging the contact to the desktop. You could even "glue" them together by dragging them next to each other. The benefit: You could easily drag these groups as a single unit. Kind of the way WinAmp behaved when you stuck it's windows together. However, these groups were not saved anywhere, and once you closed the float, you could not re-open such a group. You had to recreate all floats manually. It would be nice to be able to open a group of floats.
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
