Description Ferdinand Gassauer 2010-10-10 11:15:50 UTC
Version: 0.0.1 (using KDE 4.5.2)
OS: Linux

trying to access smb of sftp directories I get
"can only open local files"
example
* trying to attach a file to Launchpad bug system (khtml and webkit)
* trying to save a file from skanlite to a smb share

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
kio transparency

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34.7-0.3-desktop
Compiler: gcc
Comment 1 Christoph Feck 2010-10-10 11:35:54 UTC
If this is a 4.5.2 regression, it is probably a duplicate of bug 253547.
Comment 2 David Faure 2010-10-11 14:18:19 UTC
No, sounds unrelated, since this is not about launching applications. The error messages sounds more like a KUrlRequester or a KFileDialog configured in "local files only" mode.

Thanks David!

Can this be changed by the user ?

if not it seems to be clearly a "bug" as it violates the claimed protocol transparency

Problematic file

Untar and hover in Dolphin with the information pane visible.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2018-04-23 21:14:21 UTC
Is this still applicable in KDE Frameworks 5.45? Or is it app-specific?
Comment 6 Ferdinand Gassauer 2018-04-24 06:48:07 UTC
zip files on smb shares open properly with ark.
So I think bug is fixed
