Created attachment 52333 [details] Folderview on devices not uptodate Version: unspecified OS: Linux (belongs at least to KDE 4.5.2, which is not selectable in this form) Hi everybody. when using folderview as desktop-activity or single plasmoid, and setting a removable device like an usb-stick or sd-card, the folderview doesn't keep track of the current physical state or the device. If the device is mounted, i can select it as default folderview content. if the device is removed, the folderview is still showing the content of the device. (Might be a safety problem, if hidden by a window) Maybe this behavior is a feature, not a bug, though a better solution might be removing the folderview or leaving a small (auto-resized) folderview plasmoid (if it's not an activity showing a folderview) which keeps its name (of the device). If an activity is used with folderview, after _relogin_ into KDE there is currently a message displayed which says something like: "the file or folder /media/disk/ doesn't exists", that's ok i think. (maybe the message should look more like an info-message instead of an error-message belonging to the icon) in kde3 there was a feature showing up icons of mounted devices automatically. The folderview should care about the physical state of folders and devices too, and should handle the behavior smartly. Thanks for an amazing KDE4, best regards. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Insert a removable device like an usbstick or sd-card Add folder view plasmoid or set up desktop-activity showing a folder view. Unmount/remove the device. Relogin into KDE (to get the error message) Actual Results: Desktop Activity: Leaving an error message on the desktop which notify the user about missing/non-existing folder after relogin into KDE
finally found the bug already exists since kde 4.1, wow in 2008 ! ;) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 210480 ***
