Description menschmeier 2010-10-07 22:11:59 UTC
Version: 1.1 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

Kontact summary view upcoming special events never shows birthdays from my contact data.

I tried the same configuration with a new user I added to my system. I created a new entry in my addressbook and then I could see the birthday as upcoming special event in kontact summary view.

Then I tried to make it work with my own user. I deleted ~/.kde4 completely and wanted to start from scratch again. But when starting up KDE again and starting kontact again the migration tool found all my contact data. What a surprise! But than I remembered the reason could be akonadi. I tried to delete all my user data stored in akonadi. But I couldn't. I started akonadiconsole and found plenty of agents. Plenty of addressbooks entries and so on. I deleted all agents. Further I deleted all the addressbooks in akonadi.

But deleting all the akonadi stuff and deleting .kde4 didn't help.

Not being able to reset the data is a bug in my opinion. Maybe I do really have to start from scratch by creating a new user and copying all my real data in to this account. :-(

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
happens only to my user account

Actual Results:
no data in upcoming special events

Expected Results:
see birthdays as upcoming special events

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35.7
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
