Description Kenny Kruger 2010-10-06 06:35:58 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

This may not be knewstuff, but instead the desktop-settings -- assistance in filing in correct location is appreciated.

In Desktop Settings, when selecting a slideshow option you get a list for adding folders of which include images you want to have included in the slideshow. I believe the UI should have 2 check boxes; 1) system wallpaper, 2) your wallpaper (or same concept of names). #2 would be automatically checked (and unchecked) depending on if the user has downloaded any files using the knewstuff. The user can of course unclick or click this checkbox.

Some users may understand fully a slideshow and getting new picture from the internet, but will most likely not know where those images are being downloaded to or which folder to add. They may also not understand the default folders (/usr/share/wallpapers/) intent/usage.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
Open Desktop Settings for first time, switch 'Type' option to 'Slideshow' [#01].
Install new wallpapers (via the UI as a user) - your photos you downloaded never show up on the desktop - wtf. [#02]

Actual Results:
[#01] /user/share/wallpapers/
[#02] <folder not listed>

Expected Results:
[#01] [X] Shared Wallpapers /user/share/wallpapers/
[#02] [X] Downloaded Wallpapers ~/.kde/share/wallpapers/
Checked ('X') by default once you add more from internet. (?)

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-25-generic-pae
Compiler: cc

Would it make any sense to add a link in /user/share/wallpapers/ to ~/.kde/share/wallpapers for any user ? not sure on security side of it
