Description Sylvain Raybaud 2010-10-01 14:32:33 UTC
Version: 4.4 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

Not sure if I should file this into kmail or akonadi, but since it seems to start with akondi, here I go. Below I copy/paste the result of kde crash handler, which failed to automatically report the bug ("unknow error" when sending).

Application: kontact (4.4.5)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.5 (KDE 4.4.5)
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.34-gentoo-r6 x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Gentoo Packages

-- Information about the crash:
Symptoms:
after an upgrade (which included mysql and kde if I remember correctly, see emerge.log attached), two problems appeared, which may or may not be related.
1) akonadi crashes at startup. I've got many repetitions of the following in mysql.err:
InnoDB: Unable to lock ./ibdata1, error: 11
InnoDB: Check that you do not already have another mysqld process
InnoDB: using the same InnoDB data or log files.
101001 14:14:51 InnoDB: Retrying to lock the first data file
2) when click "reply" on a mail and do nothing for a while (like, one minute), kontact freezes and I have no option but to kill it.

both bugs are reproductible, every time.

Good luck

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Not sure the following is helpful because I don't have debug symbols...

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 2 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 21:28:29 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
