When Kontact is the frontmost application and it is displaying KMail and a reminder appears, the [Edit] button does not work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. 
Define a task with a close reminder.

2.
When the reminder appears, defer it by 5 minutes.

3. 
Use Kontact to read mail until the reminder reappears.

Tell the reminder to edit the task.

Actual Results:  
3.
Nothing happens.

Expected Results:  
3.
Task modification window.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34.7-0.3-desktop

this bug should be renamed, since it's not "from kmail" that we edit events, and the problem isn't limited to having KMail selected in Kontact.  i can reproduce the problem with KAddressBook and (iirc) any other non-KOrganizer component selected in Kontact.  however, selecting a KOrganizer component once during the Kontact session will prevent the issue thereafter--the Edit button will then work even if e.g. Mail is selected.  restarting Kontact causes the problem to return.

this is with Kontact 4.4.7 with KDE 4.5.3 on Kubuntu 10.10.

Christopher, can you test if this still happens for you in KDE 4.11 ?
