Description Andrej 2010-09-19 07:57:17 UTC
Version: 1.2.0 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

kipi-plugins RemoveRedEyes plugin process wrong image regions, fill image parts with green color

typically affected pictures: lips, hands or children with strawberry.
Unfortunatelly original pictures are overwriten by plugin, so i can provide only result photos for now.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Apply plugin with standart settings to high amount of typcally affected photos.

Actual Results:
Destroyed pictures:
red-eye-bug3.jpeg

Expected Results:
no green blotches, no changes on pictures, since there are no red eyes.

i have more destroyed photos and can provide it, if it is helpfull for bug analysis/fix

Try with kipi-plugins 1.4.0

Which OPenCV library version you use ?

i am using opencv-2.0.0-9.fc13.i686.
what is the best way to install kipi-plugins 1.4.0 on Fedora? Build form source?
Comment 3 Andi Clemens 2010-09-19 08:46:02 UTC
Why do you overwrite the original files?
Automatic image processing is never 100% accurate, so you should NEVER EVER remove your originals...

I recommend to use OpenCV 2.1.0 instead 2.0.0

I hacked in the CMake glue to make this build with opencv-2.0.0 . If you think that's the problem here, I have my doubts whether I'll be able to convince our opencv maintainers to update to 2.1.0. If so, our only option will be to ship kipi-plugins without the RemoveRedEyes plugin.

re: comment #2 and kipi-plugins-1.4.0 for fedora, it (currently) requires kdegraphics-4.5.x (and kde-4.5.x), which is available unofficially from http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ , in it's kde-testing repository.

(hopefully an official update will come soon, but we're still working through some regressions)

This problem is fixed since digiKam 5.x integrate a dedicated tool to process red eyes instead kipi plugin.
