Description Sabine Faure 2010-09-15 20:58:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

After clicking on the Mark All Mails as Read on a shared folder containing at least 300 unread emails, the user can see that number decreased a few at a time (less by 10 unread emails moved as read at a time).

It takes a long time for the unread count to be down to 0 and disappear whereas in the desktop version it is instantaneous.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Prerequisite: subscribe to a shared folder containing at least 300 unread emails
- Launch Kmail-mobile
- Select the shared folder containing 300 unread email
- Open 'Actions' tab
- Click on 'Mark All Mails as Read'

Actual Results:
The number of unread emails decrease little by little until it reaches 0 and the 'Unread: X' mention totally disappear

Expected Results:
The user should not see the number of unread emails decrease. It should be instantaneously down to 0 and the unread mention should disappear at once too.

Should be much faster with the recent introduction of mass-modify jobs. Previously it was marking every mail as read individually, now it's just a single command.
Comment 2 Sabine Faure 2010-11-17 18:55:18 UTC
I retested this today

Now once the user clicks on Mark All Mails as Read from the 'Actions' tab the tab closes and nothing happens for about a minute and then all of a sudden all the emails are marked as read all at once.

This is confusing for the user who wonders why it does not work immediately.

Needs to be checked for CE. A general process indicator on mass operations would be nice (I do not remember if we already had an issue for it or not.)
Comment 4 Sabine Faure 2011-01-20 21:46:43 UTC
I retested this bug today and I can still reproduce it.

The result is exactly the same as in comment #2: 'once the user clicks on Mark All Mails as Read from the 'Actions' tab the tab closes and nothing happens for about a minute and then all of a sudden all the emails are marked as read all at once.'

So I agree with Bernhard that a process indicator would be nice.
