Digikam config file

Version:           1.4.0 (using KDE 1.2) 
OS:                Linux

I've had this problem for a while, hoping it would clear with upgrades, no luck.
Now running KDE 4.5.1 and Digikam 1.4.0 from source. In Digikam 1.2.0 this problem was present with KDE 4.4.0.

Digikam will not display images imported or moved manually into albums in the shown directories.   The images are definitely present in dolphin.  I can bring them up in the OpenGL image viewer.  Digikam starts from desktop but gives this error message from console:

digikam: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libdigikam.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZN11KDcrawIface6KDcraw26checkToCancelReceivingDataEv


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start Digikam from desktop

Click on album directory

Actual Results:  
No images are displayed



Expected Results:  
Displayed images in their albums

If I move the mouse pointer over a directory the description appears fuzzy and garbled
