Version: 2.15 (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux ark will not show German special characters like ö,ä,ü and ß. Instead, it will show some replacement character. Unpacking works, but the replacement character remain and prevent the file from being opened. Instead, an error message is shown complaining that the specified file does not exist. Other archive managers can handle those files without a problem, and the extracted files can be opened. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Open an archive which contains a file with a name with special characters. Actual Results: File cannot be opened, neither from within ark nor after extracting. Expected Results: File should be openable OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-25-generic Compiler: cc
What archive format are you using?
It's when I get sent a .zip file via email. I could try and check with other formats, as well. As I said, the gnome utility works well.
