There was ktorrent started by another LAN user and kget download speed fell to 10 KBps. I requested the other user to pause and saw no increase in kget speed.I stopped kget and resumed.Kget started downloading at 60 KBps.(Kilo Bytes).It seems kget does not retry to use full bandwidth if for some reason available bandwidth was reduced.

Steps to Reproduce:
The steps in the 'Details' should reproduce it, but I could not retry as the other colleague was gone at the time of writing.



OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.34.4-0.1-default
Compiler: gcc

In general we don't have a reducing bandwidth mechanism implemented, since we use KIO http/ftp downloads and libktorrent for torrent downloads. So this rather sounds like a KIO bug unless you were downloading a torrent file.

If you are able to reproduce this issue please -- if downloading from http/ftp -- look how many connections are used, do that in the transfer settings and mirrors there. Both while it is slow and after it should be fast again and also after stopping/resuming.

I tried it myself on the network -- unfortunately I am the only computer with KDE, i.e. the other was using Firefox -- and could not reproduce this issue.

Could you please try to reproduce this, both with using KGet to download the file and then using Konqueror to download the file.

That way we could be sure if this is a KIO issue or not.

I tried your suggestion, but this time both Kget and Konqueror seem to work as expected.That is, if I am downloading with my N900 from the same wireless LAN,the speed decreases, but if I pause N900, speed increases.

It seems the problem is solved by one of the updates.

My current version is,

Using KDE Development Platform 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 3"

How is this version related to kget 0.8.1? I reported this bug, not long ago, I could not have been using such an old version in September of this year!

Ah I just see now that it was reported for 0.8.1...

This is the old KDE3-Version of KGet, while KGet2 is a complete rewrite...
