Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux Running inside my virtual machine with the resolution 1024x768: KDE 4.5.1-0ubuntu1 from Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat beta (fully updated up to now) KPackageKit 0.6.1-0ubuntu2 I noticed following minor things in the software manager »KPackageKit« that could be improved: - When applying changes, the dialog window that pops up is too small for the German translation of some of the installation/update phases - Some animations in the dialog window that pops up are ugly, when.. ..installing packages: (ghostly image of a package on the top side of the animation, and »package shadow« is not always anti-aliased) ..changes are set/applied: (ghostly image of the rotating gear on the lower right side of the animation) I don't know if this is the right bug tracker or correct package to report against. Please let me know if I'm wrong here or if it's ok. Also let me know whether I should attach some screenshots of the things mentioned above. I'm also willing to support you with more information, if needed. Maybe the problem with the animations can be resolved by re-creating the animations in full-frame-replacement mode instead of some delta-pixel algorithm. Thank You in advance, Dennis Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Install KDE 4.5.1 from Kubuntu for example in German language. Set your screen resolution to 1024x768 (if this step is needed at all?). Click on the KDE menu button and then on »Anwendungen«, then on »System« and »Softwareverwaltung« (KPackageKit Package Manager). Install some random package. Watch the translations in the dialog that pops up when applying changes and also watch closely the quality of the animations as they are changed during the different phases of the applying process. Seems to me that sometimes the animation quality is actually very good and then changes to – maybe an older version of the specific animation. Actual Results: Dialog window that pops up when applying changes is too small. Animation quality changes during the process of applying changes. Expected Results: Dynamically adjusted size or at least give it some more space! Constantly high quality and look and feel of the animations. This test was done inside a virtual machine with resolution 1024x768, in Hi-Color/True-Color mode without any 2D or 3D graphic acceleration functions activated. The Kubuntu Maverick Beta standard window and widget styles were left unchanged. Window decorator/widget style: Oxygen. Workspace/desktop design: Air.
I don't know what happened to those animations, I didn't change that recently, and the bug must be in Qt itself since they are just mpg frame by frame movie. I didn't dig much into the problem but it's probably Qt bug.
