Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

Description of problem:
With KDE 4.5, I have KDE image or icon are blurred. It's concerned : applet,
icon and already graphic component in KDE. The cursor, if go to the image, the
image is normal and if the cursor exit the image, it's blurred.

During the bug, all of screen in screenshot is blurred.

See the screenshot for example.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
KDE 4.5

How reproducible:
Use KDE 4.5 and move the cursor on an icon and exit the image with the cursor.
The image is blurred (it's not systematic ).

Additional info:
I use nouVeau driver with nVidia 8800 GTS. But KDE 4.5 in Fedora 13, same
problem. KDE 4.4 or older doesn't have this problem.

I reported this bug on Bugzilla Fedora, but they recommended to report this here…

Reproducible: Always

This isn't blurred, but broken. Please use a different video driver, nouveau seems not to be stable yet.

You might also try disabling KWin compositing by pressing Alt+Shift+F12. If that helps, you can permanently disable KWin compositing in System Settings.

Disabling KWin compositing no change the situation…
I know nouVeau is not stable, but with KDE 4.4 I don't have the problem and with different versions of nouVeau and KDE 4.5, I have this problem.

Why with KDE there is a problem and not with GNOME, etc. ? And why this version ? I reported this bug to nouveau, but it's curious.
Comment 3 Christoph Feck 2010-09-11 22:55:22 UTC
KWin on 4.5 tries to enable direct rendering if the driver claims to support it. Unfortunately, nearly all free drivers advertise that feature, but do not actually implement it.
