Description steve 2010-09-07 12:39:18 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

When using the Kalzium Molecular Calculator to get new molecules the list of molecules populated the window. Each molecule had a Install button. When I clicked on the Install button the new molecule did not get added to the list in my PC and list I had disappeared.
I am using Kalzium Version 2.2.98, Using KDE 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2).
I find Kalzium to be an excellent tool, very extensive, very well put together. I am in the gas detection industry and would like to use Kalizum more than I do.
Thank you.

Reproducible: Didn't try

I can reproduce this bug in KDE 4.8.

When I try install the first molecule by "Download New Molecules" (Get New Hot Stuff), Kalzium create
/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kalzium/data/molecules/ folder with hotstuff-access file. This file can't be loaded.

When I try install the second molecule, Kalzium ask:
Overwrite existing file?
/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kalzium/data/molecules///hotstuff-access

If you click in "Continue" the file is replaced. The new file can't be loaded too.

I tested in KDE 4.4 too.

After install a molecule, the default folder in "Load Molecule" button is /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kalzium/data/molecules/ (KDE 4.4).
In KDE 4.8,the default folder in "Load Molecule" button is /usr/share/apps/kalzium/data/molecules/

In KDE 4.4, overwritting question don't exists and I can't install the second molecule.

Git commit 230d5e42d7d17408e924379982617b0ffe3e1d77 by Albert Astals Cid.
Committed on 23/09/2012 at 10:32.
Pushed by aacid into branch 'master'.

Tell the user where we saved the molecule

Together with a fix in kdelibs 4.10 makes the download new molecules stuff usable, still has a few problems if you delete the file in the sense that it thinks it is still installed, but that's a intrinsic problem with KHNS and can't be easily fixed

NOT YET FIXED!

The reason may be that the above bug description is not distinct.

The BUG is that the new molecule data downloads to a different folder than the one which appears when one clicks "Load molecule" in the molecule editor.

The "load molecule" folder is: Root/usr/share/kde4/apps/kalzium/data/molecules
The downloaded molecule folder is: /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kalzium/data/molecules///hotstuff-access

I have looked for the folder "hotstuff-access" with Dash, and it cannot find any such folder.

So the download molecule folder is inaccessible and needs to be corrected.

I am using the latest version of Kalzium available from the application store: 2.4.00
My OS is Ubuntu 12.04

Note that the bug is fixed in KDE 4.10, which will be released in January. If you want to test this version now, you have to either compile from source, or check if someone offers packages for that version.

Thanks,

It would be good if the Bugfix comment on this issue is corrected so as to
contain the info below. As it is now it says the Bug is already fixed which
is not correct.

Jaan

What does the "Version Fixed In" field on this page say? The version is also part of the commit message in comment #3.

This problem persists with KDE Plasma and K 2.4.0
