Description Sabine Faure 2010-09-03 14:52:28 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

After launching an Imap resource synchronization it is impossible to use Kmail-mobile until the synchronization is done. Kmail-mobile is very slow to respond to the basic commands like switching folders or viewing an email

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Kmail-mobile
- Open the 'Actions' tab
- Click on 'Home'
- Click on 'Synchronize all emails'

Actual Results:
The synchronization launches but it takes quite a while especially if shared folders are set up and in the meantime the user cannot even open a tab or click to display an email.

Expected Results:
Basic actions like displaying an email or changing folders from folder view should be possible even when the Imap ressource is syncing.

I retested this today and it worked a lot better.

I was able to write emails, to browse between folders in the folder view and to open and close tabs while the Imap resource was syncing.

So I am closing this bug.

I retested this bug today and I am reopening it since doing anything else while syncing the shared folders (server side subscription disabled) is nearly impossible because of how slow the N900 reacts.

I retested this today and I was able to write emails, to browse between folders in the folder view and to open and close tabs while the Imap resource was syncing though it was fairly slow (Especially lauching the Composer which took about 20s and emails appearing in Message List, the rest was ok in my opinion).

I guess there is a jugement call to be made on whether this is acceptable or not.

Till what do you think?

Note: this test was made with 'Enable Serverside Subscription' checked. See Bug #252164 for the same bug with 'Enable Serverside subscription' unchecked.

Someone needs to decide whether this bug can be closed or not (see comment #4).

Hi Tobias!

I retested this today and I was able to switch folders, view an emails and launch the Composer without much wait indeed so I am closing this bug.
write emails, to browse between folders

(Lauching the Composer only took 09s and there is now a 'Loading message...' message while the user is waiting for an email to be displayed)
