Description Ioannis 2010-09-02 15:09:04 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

When typing on kopete, after typing a series of 'misspelt' words (about 5-10 in a row), the auto-spell checking stops working (it no longer highlights spelling mistakes, including those that have been highlighted already, even though the 'Auto Spell Check' option remains selected). Only way to recover from this is to dis-select and select it again.

The thing is, I often type in Greeklish (Greek with Latin characters) with some of my contacts. This causes the spell checker to stop working on those tabs. However, since I often slip some english in there, I'd like it to keep working.

It might be a 'feature' as part of some auto-language detection, or to avoid annoying the user, but it would be nice to have an option to avoid this from happening (assuming it's not a bug).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a chat window
2. type random letters with spaces (misspelt words) on the chat window.
3. Continue for about 5 or so words

Actual Results:
After about 5 words the auto spell check highlighting stops working (even those words that got highlighted before are not highlighted any more)

Expected Results:
have misspelt words being highlighted under all conditions

I've also tested this on a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.04.1 (under VM) with KDE 4.5.0 from ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
