Description Al Williams 2010-08-29 21:48:19 UTC
Version: 1.13.2 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

Not sure if this is really a bug now that I think I understand it.

Using Kmail 1.13.2 (KDE 4.4.2) I have been trying to get templates to work. I created 3 custom universal templates. If I right click on a message I can select reply with template and then see a list of my templates. If I pick one it works. Fine.

But I want to create new messages with the templates. If I go to File | New | New Message from template, I just get a "no templates" popout.
So now I see that if I compose a new e-mail and save it as a template then it shows up in the File | New.... menu and it is in my templates folder. So it looks like the File menu gets its templates from one source (the templates folder) and the reply/forward gets it from the settings.

I'm not sure what the desired behavior is. Could be as simple as documenting that the Settings templates are not used for new mail, or calling one of them something other than templates. Maybe its only me that finds this confusing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Well like I said... Create a universal template in the Composer tab of Configure KMail.

Actual Results:
Template does not appear in File | New | New Message from template

Expected Results:
I'd expect a universal template to show up there

I'm marking this as a new feature request because I don't think it is a bug per se. But the Configure KMail dialog should have some explanation that these are not the same templates as used for creating a new mail and/or change the name. This is especially confusing because of: http://maketecheasier.com/create-custom-email-templates-in-kmail/2010/01/04 -- which I realize is not kde cannon, but has incorrect information in it.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
