Description FiNeX 2010-08-26 20:59:09 UTC
1) Open Kmail
2) select an email
3) right click on the "From" email address (in the header section) and select "copy email address".

If the address is in the form "Name Surname <email@domain.com>" it will be copied the whole string, not only the address.

4) pasting the string into kaddressbook email field in the "Edit contact" dialog or into the email field in the "Add new address" (and "edit address") doesn't work because it needs a clean email string.

"Copy email address" action should copy only the address.
(...or kaddressbook should be smart enough to understand it, but I don't think kaddressbook devs would like to implement this feature).

Thanks for the explanation.

I used to be able to paste it in and then "clean it up" but I can't do that now.

I also can't paste a "cleaned up" list of addresses(i.e., just the email addresses that are comma separated) into the email addresses any more. If I do, the commas are removed. I have to add them one at a time which is much less efficient than clipping addresses out of emails to create a new list. It may save me from dealing with double sets of angle brackets, but on the average, the old way was more efficient. I also can't associate the names with the address that way. Then once I paste them in one at a time, only one name shows in the contact folder email list. I don't like to complain because everyone is working so hard on this for the benefit of others, but I think the old way was very significantly better for the way I work. degree.

No longer an issue with recent kdepim version. The address is trimmed in kaddressbook when pasting it.
