Description ddreamer 2010-08-25 20:54:01 UTC
Version: 0.10.2 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

Hi, I am using Okular 0.10.2 under Ubuntu 10.04 with GNOME desktop environemnt. The KDE version I selected and shown above is obtained from HELP/About KDE in Okular.

Okular failed to show the following two PDF files:

http://www.nctu.edu.tw/intro/intro70.pdf (This is a map for school campus. There must be Chinese
characters in the building blocks and in the roads)

http://www.thsrc.com.tw/event/88relief/file/88relief_form.pdf (all Chinese characters in the form
are gone in Okular)

They are correctly shown by Xpdf ver.3.02

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the above mentioned PDF files

Actual Results:
Almost no Chinese characters is shown.

Expected Results:
Chinese characters should be shown.

After consulting on poppler mailing list, the responder claimed that poppler itself could show the right result.

Do you really need to mail the mailing list AND file a bug? Please in the future do ONLY one.

Also your text is wrong, the poppler maintainer claimed nothing, because incidentally *I* am the poppler maintainer and i know i did not claim poppler can not fix it
Comment 2 Pino Toscano 2010-08-25 21:21:41 UTC
Do you have the poppler-data package installed?
Comment 3 ddreamer 2010-08-26 11:38:54 UTC
After installing poppler-data package, this issue is solved. Thank you, Pino. But Bug 249034 ( https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249034 ) persisted after installation of the package.
