Version: latest git snapshot (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux In Rekonq HTTPS websites often fail to load, yielding a "Unknown Error" webpage. Eventually after refreshing enough-the page may load. For example to report this bug on bugs.kde.org, I am having to use an entirely different browser as Rekonq will not load the HTTPS bug-reporting page due to how the webpage is designed. Similarly the Arch Linux Forums website ( https://bbs.archlinux.org ) suffers from this problem also-although seemingly not as severely as bugs.kde.org Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1) Go to http://bugs.kde.org, or https://bbs.archlinux.org 2) After clicking more than one or two links, Rekonq fails to load. Actual Results: The following error message: "Unknown error When connecting to: https://bugs.kde.org Check the address for errors such as ww.kde.org instead of www.kde.org If the address is correct, try to check the network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that rekonq is permitted to access the network. Of course, if rekonq does not work properly, you can always say it is a programmer error ;) " Expected Results: Should render the webpage. After pounding the "Try Again" button on the above webpage eventually the page loads. -Arch64 with Nvidia proprietary driver -Connecting via Privoxy to router to internet. Error message is not from Privoxy but from Rekonq. -KDE4.4.5 for now I'll upgrade to 4.5 once it is in Arch Stable. I've seen this bug before with Rekonq in earlyier versions of KDE too.
Doesn't happen here. In case it's a software problem, here's my setup: Rekonq 0.5.80 (=0.6beta) + KDE SC 4.5.0 + Qt 4.7nightly as shipped in openSUSE’s Build Service (newer than the beta2 release). Maybe it isn’t even a software problem. Maybe it’s a connection problem to your DNS provider, caused by overload on his side or possible overload for your modem. When I have many connections established (by running a P2P service or whatever) my DSL modem is not able to handle the load all the time, causing occasional lockups. You could try to reduce the number of concurrent connections in your P2P program (if you have one running) and maybe tweak the network connection timeout settings in System Settings.
Can anyone reproduce this with current rekonq/KDE? If not, I think we can close this one.
I can load them all without any problem. I couldn't follow KIO development during this period so closely to know if there were some fixes/improvements there to have a better integration with webkit regarding this problem, sorry.
As nobody seems to be able to reproduce this anymore, I close this report now.
