Description Sabine Faure 2010-08-12 21:43:38 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

From an Imap resource Inbox clicking on an already existing email displays a black screen instead of the email content.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- On the N900, configure an already existing Imap resource containing read
emails in its inbox.
- The Imap resource should be displayed in the main Kmail-mobile window (ex:
akonadi_imap_resour)
- Click on it and then on the inbox (at the end of the folder list)
- Click on one of the stored email

Actual Results:
The screen turns black so the email content is not displayed properly.

Expected Results:
The email content should be displayed properly.

Displaying an email snapshot

Clicking on an email to read it just displays a black background instead of the message content.

I think I have the same or at least a related issue. I first see the black screen, then it changes to a message view. But this only shows the Header (From, Subject, Account name, Date) but no content. This happens regardless if the mail was previously read or not.
Comment 3 Sabine Faure 2010-08-13 23:20:35 UTC
I retested this today and when I open an email I still get the black screen for a couple of seconds but then I can see the email properly: From, Subject, Account name, Date and content.

So this is partially corrected now.

It is completely corrected now.

I do not get the black background at all anymore.

Now when I open an email from the Message List View I get a white empty background for a few seconds and then the message is displayed correctly: From, Subject,Account name, Date and content.

Comment 5 Rolf Eike Beer 2010-08-29 09:49:34 UTC
The black screen issue seems resolved, but I still only see the headers and no body.
Comment 6 Bernhard E. Reiter 2010-08-30 10:08:18 UTC
Rolf, can you try switching on the "disconnected mode"?
(Maybe the body of the email did not load - yet.)

And please check the console output if it does not work.

For me displaying mail bodies works (N900 Tag 20100820-2).
Comment 7 Rolf Eike Beer 2010-09-06 15:23:55 UTC
Can you tell me how to switch?
Comment 8 Bernhard E. Reiter 2010-09-06 16:07:04 UTC
@Rolf: You can go to email -> Home -> Actions -> Accounts -> "your account" -> configure and then change the mode. (Probably you can also do it, changing some configuration item.)

Accounts doesn't show any contents :(
Comment 11 Bernhard E. Reiter 2010-09-07 09:14:18 UTC
@Rolf: As always, it sometimes takes a few tries until the menus are fully
displayed.
Comment 12 Bjoern Ricks 2010-09-16 10:09:18 UTC
For me it's not possible to reproduce the behavior with 4:4.5~20100910.1175286-1maemo5.1174786

Feel free to reopen the bug if it is still valid for you.
Comment 13 Sabine Faure 2010-09-16 20:05:48 UTC
Reading emails still works fine for me.

Rolf, please verify this one when it works for you.

Comment 14 Rolf Eike Beer 2010-09-16 21:48:22 UTC
Once the next packages get pushed to unstable I'll retest.
Comment 15 Bjoern Ricks 2010-09-20 14:57:43 UTC
Some additional info: If network connection is lost, you are not using disconnected imap mode and opening a mail for the first time the content of a mail content is not shown. Currently there is no indication showing you the network status of the imap resource.
Comment 16 Sabine Faure 2010-09-24 18:26:10 UTC
Bjoern,

what you are describing is a totally different bug than the one I first reported: Reading email was not possible even using a working internet connexion. It has been fixed a long time ago now.

What you are describing in comment #5 is linked to the 'Enable Disconnected Mode' check box being unchecked so I reported a different bug about that:
See bug #252178.

So I am verifying this bug.

Comment 17 Rolf Eike Beer 2010-10-09 14:06:42 UTC
Yes, works now.
