Description Kanwar Plaha 2010-08-09 05:00:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

Each time I start kmail, I have to wait for a long time before I can start reading my emails. It starts downloading all messages again. However, after downloading, if I double-click on one message to read, it downloads the message all over again!

If I cancel the above operation, i cannot read any message. Clicking on 'check mail in ...' starts the above download once again.

Why does it do that? How can I avoid it? I use it for my work email.

My email server is IMAP (MS Exchange).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start Kmail. Click on 'Cbeck Mail in ...' and choose the IMAP receiving account name.

Actual Results:
Kmail starts downloading all messages again. This takes a long time.

Expected Results:
Once the folder has been synchronized with the remote server, it should only download new and unread messages next time.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
