Description Rudi Wiener 2010-08-07 15:21:53 UTC
Version: 2.0.4
OS: MS Windows

This happens under Windows 7 Professional. When I start up kleopatra nothing seems to happen. After a second of HDD activity everything is over, Kleopatra seems not to have started up. A look in the task manager shows no Kleopatra under the apps, but kleopatra.exe under the processes. Looking at the system with Sysinternal's process explorer shows that the following executionables tree is active: kleopatra.exe - kbuildsycoca4.exe - dbus-daemon.exe. The last one uses up quite some CPU-time, but nothing is visible. When I try to bing kleopatra to the front of all windows I'm being told that there are no open windows.
I'm working with an admin account.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just fire up Kleopatra.

Actual Results:
nothing of Kleopatra's user interface is visible

Expected Results:
show up Kleopatra's windows

I see the same behavior with Version 2.0.14 on Win7. If I kill the 2 processes from Task Manager, I can then start Kleopatra. If I File>Quit Kleopatra, I get a message warning me that Kleopatra wants to run as a service and do I want to just close the window or quit. If I select, "Quit", I can subsequently run the Kleopatra GUI without difficulty. If I select "Close Window", the 2 Kleopatra processes continue to run and I can't start the Kleopatra GUI without killing them from Task Manager. Sounds like a feature I just don't understand how to use...

I am having very nearly the same symptoms, with the exception that Kleopatra does not show up in either running tasks, or processes. I get a busy mouse for a few seconds after I try to start it, and then nothing.

GPA works fine on the same machine.

I'm running MS Server 2008, 64 bit. gpg4win version 2.1.0

Should be fixed with current Kleopatra and Gpg4win. I'll check it.

With gpg4win 3.0 kbuildsycoca and dbus-daemon are no longer used in gpg4win. So this issue is resolved.

Prereleases of gpg4win 3.0 are available on: https://wiki.gnupg.org/Gpg4win/Testversions
